Soccer Champions at the Winter Sports Tournament

Last Wednesday, Year 4-6 students participated in Rugby, Netball, Soccer and Hockey at the annual South Taranaki Primary Schools Winter Sports Tournament. We got into the final of the netball but lost a hard fought game against Tawhiti School. The rugby was a great competition and we won a few games. It was very exciting because we won our first game of hockey!! Well done to the hockey team!

But the best bit was that Hawera Primary School won the Soccer!! We won all of our games and drew one game to play a Kakaramea Hurleyville mixed team in the grand final. The teams were evenly matched and the score was nil-all at the end of regular time, so we had to have a penalty shoot out! It was exciting but scary watching the penalty shoot out but luckily we had Logan in goal who was awesome. We won the penalty shoot out and were crowned CHAMPIONS!! Excellent effort and great team work!! Well done, Soccer team.

Celebrating after winning the penalty shootout!

Ethan scores!

Ethan, Tyler and Travis celebrate winning.

Tyler with the winners' trophy!!

Yes! We did it!! Awesome effort team.

Come on guys - Get Firewise!

Year 1 and 2 went on a trip to the fire station. We got to sit in the big red fire engine and hold the hose. Some of us got to dress up as fire fighters! We know what to do if we smell smoke:

GET DOWN, GET LOW and GET OUT - FAST!!
